What is Counselling?Counselling is often referred to as a 'talking therapy' and is essentially about achieving healing, change, growth and enhanced wellbeing through talking and working with a trained therapist. The quality of the relationship between client and therapist is at the heart of this process so it is vital to feel comfortable and safe in the counselling relationship.
While people often seek counselling in times of trouble or distress it can also be valuable in encouraging personal growth and a healthy and balanced lifestyle. There may be specific issues in your life with which you are struggling, or you may feel you would like to explore ways in which to further develop yourself as a person and make changes in your life.
It is often very difficult for someone to make the first step towards seeking help and I therefore believe that it is important to provide a welcoming, safe, supportive and confidential space for a person to explore what is going on in their life.
By offering you an introductory meeting before you commit to a series of sessions I hope you will feel more comfortable to take this first step into counselling.
